Training as per programme at Appendices 55 – 58. See Appendices 55 to 58 attached to the War Diary. These documents were either missing from the file or were not photographed on the research visit to Kew.
6 February 1944
2/Lt A E Clarke RE arrived this unit. Posted to unit with effect from 31 January 1944.
9 – 10 February 1944
Company Exercise “Double Double”. Company constructed a 130 foot Double Double Bailey Bridge across the river at HORNING FERRY. Construction started at 14:00 hours and finished at 22:00 hours complete. Bank seats were mined and booby trapped.
11 February 1944
Commandant Royal Engineers inspected Nos. 2 and 3 Platoons.
15 February 1944
Company inspected by G.o.C. Ceremonial Parade, Admin, all seen and training. No. 2 Platoon built 60 foot Single Span Bailey Bridge in 50 minutes. 1 Platoon erected standard Brigade Water point. 3 Platoon was on leave.
18 – 20 February 1944
Skeleton HQs took part in Divisional Exercise “PONTOON”.
21 – 24 February 1944
Company Bridging Exercise. A 250 foot Bailey Pontoon Bridge constructed across the tidal mouth of the River BLYTHE at SOUTHWOLD. Bridge consisted of 1 110 foot triple Span long loading bay, 1 80 foot Double Span long landing bay and 2 32 foot end floating bays.
24 February 1944
The Brigade Company Pile Driver was used and demonstrated to all ranks.
