The photographs of the location taken during the research trip are set out below.  Clearly the situation has changed considerably since 1940, but it is hoped that the images give a clear impression of the scale of the structure and its importance in providing an area in which the evacuating destroyers and minesweepers, as well as other large vessels, could successfully berth to take off troops:-

The photographs of the location taken during the research trip are set out below.
