1st September 1941


A Night Exercise took place within the 10th Battalion.


3rd September 1941


The Battalion was involved in a large Exercise in which there was a Battle between 1st Tyneside Scottish and the 11th Battalion DLI – the latter being mostly captured.


4th September 1941


The Battalion took part in a Mountain Warfare Scheme at Kleifervatn – this was the Battalion’s first real attempt at this type of Warfare and the results were seen as successful.


15th September 1941


The Buglers of the 10th Battalion provided part of the Guard of Honour for Major-General Bonesteele of the U.S. Marine Corps when he landed to take over command of the US forces in Iceland – the Battalion, and the Buglers, were congratulated on their turnout by the General.


27th September 1941


The Battalion finally made the move to hutted camps – and were pleased to be out of the tents, as Winter was approaching.
