It has not yet proved possible to trace a copy of the War Diary for the 12th Battalion for the month of December 1939. No doubt much time was taken up in making preparations for the move from being part of the Durham Light Infantry to becoming a Battalion of The Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment).
