1 August 1943 MOTHERWELL.

Regiment located at MOTHERWELL.

The ensuing week was devoted to settling in to the new location and individual training on a battery basis (See Appendix A attached). This Appendix was not included in the War Diary file.

8 – 12 August 1943

Exercise CONTACT II for log see Appendix B attached. (Appendix B was not included within the War Diary file).

16 August 1943

Divisional “U” Target Exercise see Appendix C. Appendix C was not included in the file.

17 August 1943

Rehearsal for Exercise SCOOP (details in Appendix D with appropriate alterations in date). Appendix D was not included in the file.

20 August 1943

Exercise SCOOP in conjunction with 6th Duke of Wellington’s Regiment (see Appendix D attached). Watched by Lieutenant General Sir Bernard C T Paget K.C.B., D.S.O., M.C. Commander in Chief Home Forces.

26 August 1943

All Officers to lecture at 70th Infantry Brigade on Military Intelligence 9 aids to Prisoners of War.

27 August 1943

274 Field Battery field firing exercise in conjunction with 1 Tyneside Scottish.

12 Officers and 5 NCOs to TROON to watch loading trials of Self-propelled equipment in L.C.T.’s
