5 March 1944 Mettingham.

Musketry, Grenades and Individual Training.

11 March 1944

Divisional Boxing Championship, 2nd round. Beat 89 Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment, Royal Artillery.

13 March 1944

Lance Sergeants Taylor and Wicks to Ripon for mines course.

16 March 1944

Inter-Platoon novices Boxing Tournament. 1 Platoon won – good standard found.

17 March 1944

All Officers attended lecture at 146 Brigade HQ of Royal Artillery – Infantry co-operation in 8th Army.

18 March 1944

Church Parade.

21 March 1944

80 foot Double Span Bailey drawn from Field Park Company. Platoons practice speed on a prepared site erecting 70 foot Double Span bridge across water gap all setting out and placing rollers to be completed. Training to form part of an Inter-Company competition.

26 March 1944

Stella Filter demonstrated to Platoons.

27 March 1944

Trial of 5” C.W. Rocket firing cordtex net over minefield for G.O.C. 49 Division.

Premature firing of net in cradle caused minor injury to Subaltern Officer of 756 Field Company. Trials resulted in apparatus NOT being recommended. Full details passed through normal channels.

Company starts work on “Foster Road”. Work found placing of bricks from bomb damaged houses as hardcore. Method produces very good road but uses far too many bricks for anything but a very short bridge approach.
