21:30 hours. Captain J B BLAKE R.E. Railway Transport Officer HEREFORD visited the unit and discussed some points with temporary Officer Commanding regarding move by rail. Weather cloudy and cold.

3 March 1942

22:00 hours. Nothing special to report. Weather cloudy and cold all day.

4 March 1942

22:00 hours. Major General M.M. LOCKHART C.I.E., M.C. Military Secretary to the Secretary of State for INDIA, accompanied by the Commander, Indian Contingent, and Rissaldar Major visited the unit and went round the lines. Weather cloudy and cold, little rain in the morning.

5 March 1942

21:30 hours. Nothing special to report. Weather very cold and heavy snow all day.

6 March 1942

21:30 hours. Training Films on Aircraft Recognition were shown by a representative from HQ Indian Contingent. Weather cloudy and snowy all day.

7 March 1942

21:30 hours. Nothing special to report. Weather very cold and snowy in the morning but clear in the afternoon.

8 March 1942

22:00 hours. Major R B Le-CORNU M.C. RIASC Officer Commanding the unit rejoined the unit from leave. Rissaldar JAHAN DAD M.B.E. proceeded to LONDON for Investiture. Cinema show given by Welfare Officer Indian Contingent. Weather uncertain and cold, sun shining at intervals.

9 March 1942

21:30 hours. Major H N N FAWCETT RIASC Pack Transport Liaison Officer, Indian Contingent visited this unit. Captain CHANDARA D.S.G. Welfare Office, Indian Contingent visited the unit. Weather uncertain sun shining at intervals.

10 March 1942

22:00 hours. Nothing special to report. Weather uncertain, sun shining at intervals.

11 March 1942

22:00 hours. I/c No. 3 Field Accounts Office Indian Contingent visited the unit and checked all Regimental Fund Accounts. Major H D LEWIS RAVC D.A.D.V. & R.S. Southern and Western Commands visited the unit and inspected all animals. Weather cloudy and raining at intervals.

12 March 1942

21:30 hours. I/c No. 3 Field Accounts Office Indian Contingent checked QM Store Accounts. Commanding Officer proceeded to HQ Indian Contingent to attend conference held by Commander Indian Contingent. Weather cloudy all day.

13 March 1942

21:00 hours. A short lecture was delivered by Lieut H THOMAS RIASC on “World Affairs”. Lieut A F ESTLICK RIASC and Jemadar MALIK MOHD KHAN Indian Army Veterinary Corps proceeded to RHYL (NORTH WALES) to attend an Indian Gala Night there. Weather cloudy and cold all day.

14 March 1942

21:00 hours. Lt A F ESTLICK RIASC and Jemadar MALIK MOHD KHAN IAVC returned from RHYL. YMCA Stores were drawn from Welfare Office, Indian Contingent. Major J FINLAY M.B.E., RIASC i/c Administration Indian Contingent visited the unit and discussed some points with the Officer Commanding. Weather uncertain – sun shining at intervals.

15 March 1942

21:30 hours. Garrison Engineer HEREFORD visited the unit and went round the Camp sites. Weather uncertain – sun shining at intervals.

16 March 1942

21:30 hours. Nothing special to report. Weather cloudy and raining at intervals.

17 March 1942

21:30 hours. Major General G G WATERHOUSE C.B., M.C. Commanding Central Midland District, accompanied by Col W ROBB C.B.E., C.M.D. visited the unit and went round the lines. Weather uncertain, sun shining at intervals.

18 March 1942

22:00 hours. Commander Indian Contingent accompanied by Rissaldar Major and Honorary Lieutenant MOHD ASHRAF I.O.M, I.D.S.M. RIASC visited the unit and discussed some points rea; move with Officer Commanding. Weather uncertain raining at intervals.

19 March 1942

21:30 hours. Mr SEWELL, a conjuror, arrived from LONDON and gave a performance to the personnel of this unit. Three King’s Commissioned Officers and three Viceroy’s Commissioned Officers of the Company attended a demonstration showing the method of slinging animals held by 25 Mule Company, RIASC. Weather uncertain and raining at intervals.

20 March 1942

21:30 hours. Major J FINLAY M.B.E. RIASC i/c Administration, HQ Indian Contingent visited this unit. Lieut J WILLIAMS of the Claims Commission visited the unit and had a short conference with the Officer Commanding. Weather cold and cloudy.

22:00 hours. Welfare Officer Indian Contingent gave a cinema show in YMCA Hall. Weather uncertain, sun shining at intervals.

24 March 1942

21:30 hours. Railway Transport Officer HEREFORD visited the unit and discussed some points re: move of Advance Party by rail. Weather clear and bright all day.

25 March 1942

21:00 hours. 22 Indian Other Ranks under command of Lt A F ESTLICK RIASC, Advance Party proceeded to new location in North Wales. D.A.D.V.& R.S. Southern and Western Commands visited the unit and inspected all animals. Weather bright and clear all day.

26 March 1942

21:30 hours. Education Officer Indian Contingent visited the unit and gave an Eglish Examination equivalent to 3rd Class Indian Army English Certificate to 14 Indian Other Ranks. Weather clear and bright all day.

27 March 1942

21:00 hours. Unit establishment paid out. A short lecture was delivered by Lt H THOMAS RIASC on “News of the World”. Weather clear and bright.

28 March 1942

21:30 hours. Nothing special to report. Weather uncertain, sun shining at intervals.
