41 National Defence Corps (Company?) became 13th (Home Defence) Battalion DLI.

9th November 1939

11th Bn entertained by Rene Houston & Co. – Newcastle Empire.

10th November 1939

GOC 23rd Division visited Brigade.

13th November 1939

GOC in C Northern Command visited Brigade.

14th November 1939

Brigadier and Lt Col Stafford visited vulnerable points CROXDALE, VICTORIA BRIDGE and SUNDERLAND. Young officers course started at DLI ITC for 12 officers.

15th November 1939

Concert at BISHOP AUCKLAND – Dorothy Holbrook and her Hussars.

16th November 1939

ADMS visited Brigade.

22nd November 1939

Brigadier addressed all officers at Jubilee Hall, CHESTER-LE-STREET.

23rd November 1939

Brigadier’s administrative inspection of 11th Bn.

25th November 1939

Guarding of Tyne Bridges – King Edward, Swing and High Level – taken over from 8th Bn Royal Northumberland Fusiliers.

27th November 1939

Administrative inspection of 11th Bn by GOC 23rd Division. Militia intake from all three Battalions to WHITBURN to fire SAT Vol 1 pamphlet 15 Appendix 3 course. C Coy 11th Bn relieved A Coy at DARLINGTON under the Civil Defence Scheme. 10th Bn still remained as Group Reserve while at WHITBURN.
