Unit Joined The Durham Light Infantry, no enlistment date as yet, but his Regimental Number suggests Summer 1939. Posted ? 6th Bn DLI. Posted 10th Bn DLI - probably 1/9/1939. Served in Northern France with the B.E.F. Notification received that he had been taken Prisoner of War (probably on 20/5/1940 or shortly thereafter) on 20/6/1940. Repatriated early to the UK. Discharged under King's Regulations 1940 Para 390 (xvi) 21/6/1944.

Home address Research indicates a marriage to Kathleen Ford Q1 1947 in Belper, Derbyshire.

Pte Alldread's early discharge suggests that he may have been repatriated early, possibly on grounds of sickness, which is perhaps why he does not appear in the Official Register of PoWs for WW2, although he was included on a formal list of those repatriated in correspondence files at The National Archives, Kew.
