Transferred back to the Black Watch - date not known, and posted to the 1st Tyneside Scottish. Served Normandy. KILLED in ACTION 1/7/44 NW Europe, Serial No. 366.

Died/Killed in action KILLED in ACTION. Graves Registration records are rather unclear as to whether he was killed on 30/6/1944 at Fontenay-le-Pesnel or on 01-Jul-44 at Rauray. Initially interred at Fontenay-le-Pesnel Map 7F/1 1/50,000 Reference 894.649 (which rather suggests the former date). Re-buried 11/7/1945 in Grave II.A.4. St Manvieu War Cemetery, Cheux. Headstone inscription reads : SLEEP ON, BELOVED AND TAKE THY REST IN PEACE, I KNOW, WITHIN HEAVEN BLEST.
