For those with an interest in World War One it may be noted that Cherisy was the location of the only known example of a Trench Raid, carried out by a Battalion of The Durham Light Infantry, which was photographed from the air. The images have been used to assist in identifying the men taking part and have also served to illustrate lectures, and Secondary School project work, as part of the syllabus for History GCSE.
