Private Donnelley's name was extracted from a War Office list of those names being checked during an exercise in 1942 identifying men thought to have been listed as "missing" at the time of Dunkirk. As he was later transferred to the Pioneer Corps it has been assumed, subject to confirmation, that he served in France and Iceland. Family assistance is requested to clarify his later military record. As his is a fairly common name, genealogical research has proved difficult.
