Unit Enlisted in the 108th Suffolk and Norfolk Yeomanry Field Brigade, Royal Artillery, Territorial Army. Commissioned as a Second Lieutenant 26/4/1938. In the re-organisation of the Royal Artillery units during the increase in the strength of the TA he was posted to the 55th (Suffolk and Norfolk Yeomanry) Anti-Tank Regiment, which succeeded the 108th Field Brigade and was one of the conversions to an Anti-Tank role. The Regiment became the Divisional Anti-Tank Regiment of the 54th (East Anglian) Division. In 1939, when Regiments were ordered to create duplicate units the unit was split - with the 55th (Suffolk Yeomanry) remaining attached to the 54th Division, until September 1942, with 220 Battery originally based at Beccles. The Suffolk Yeomanry was then moved to 79th Armoured Division until April 1943. In July 1943 it was attached to the 49th Division. The unit served in Normandy. The entries in the London Gazette tracing Major Hambro's remaining service have not been able to be traced as yet.

Home address Major Hambro's father was Lt Col Harold Everard Hambro and his mother was Katherine Alethea Scott. He was educated at Eton College. He married Marjorie Caroline Innes on 30/10/1938 and the marriage was registered in Q4 1938 at Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. The couple had two children.
