Died/Killed in action DIED of Cerebral malaria 6/3/1944 (Regimental Orders shows 6/2/1944). Initially interred in Grave 3/L 12 Changi Military Cemetery. Re-interred 2/5/1946 in Grave 16.B.6. Kranji War Cemetery. Headstone inscription reads:- "SLEEP SOFTLY, SON, IN HONOUR REST; SUCH SACRIFICE BY GOD IS BLESSED". Probate granted 10/12/1945 at Newcastle upon Tyne to Margaret Jane Mason, wife of George Shield Mason (Norman's mother).
Home address Son of George Shield Mason and Margaret Jane Mason of Swarland, Northumberland. Father lived at 2, Sea View, Swarland, Morpeth.
