Cause of death not yet known but may have been related to exposure/hypothermia, as two other men have the same recorded details and are also buried at Akureyri. This suggests some sort of exercise accident?

We did not visit the Cemetery at Akureyri on any of our visits to Iceland so far, so did not have an image of Private McCormick's headstone, nor is he yet included on the "Find A Grave" Website records, but, thanks to the curiosity of Clark McCormick (not a relative as far as is known) on a visit to Akureyri, we now do have an image, and it is displayed above.
