Evacuated - via Dunkirk on H.M. Transport (T.S.S.) Canterbury [1]. Reported to Launceston, Cornwall until 6/10/1940. Departed Glasgow on H.M.T. K4. Ship attacked by aircraft 9/10/1940 and returned for repairs. Moved to Oswestry. Departed LIverpool on H.M.T. J4 (Tamaroa) 15/12/1940 [2]. Attacked by German Cruiser Admiral Hipper [3] 25/12/1940 but proceeded to Freetown - Sierra Leone - January 1941, then on to Durgan - arriving Suez 16/2/1941. Relinquished command of Unit 25/2/1941. Posted 81 Base Sub Area with effect from 25/2/1941 as DADH. Served Crete. Reported Missing 28/4/1941. Confirmed as having been taken Prisoner of War 23/8/1941.

Died/Killed in action Died October 1996, at Barnsley.
Home address Married Edith E. Cromb at Horncastle in July 1938. Registered Q3 1938 - Lincolnshire. Lived at 2, Wellfield Road, Barnsley until his death in 1996.
