Joined The Durham Light Infantry - granted an Emergency Commission as a 2/Lt 21/8/1942 as number 243111. Posted 14th Bn DLI 21/8/1942. Attached to 77th Division Battle School as 2/Lt as at 18/10/1942. Posted to the 11th Battalion DLI as Lt 7/12/1943. Served Normandy. Wounded and evacuated beyond Regimental Aid Post 1/7/1944. DIED of WOUNDS 1/7/1944 while with 11th Battalion DLI.
