Unit Joined The Durham Light Infantry. No enlistment date but probably mid-1939. Posted ? 6th Bn DLI. Posted to the 10th Bn DLI - probably 1/9/1939. Served B.E.F. Taken Prisoner of War - notification received 12/7/1940. A report to the effect that he had been declared missing appeared in the Auckland Chronicle of 18/7/1940. Repatriated early to the UK - possibly as a result of illness. Discharged under King's Regulations 1940 Para 390 (xvi) 12/1/1944 as unfit for further service.
