Reported MISSING 20/6/1940 (a report to this effect appeared in the Auckland Chronicle of 18/7/1940), now known to have been taken Prisoner of War - notified 10/7/1940, and reported in the Auckland Chronicle of 12/9/1940 with the additional information that he was wounded and in hospital in France. Repatriated. Discharged under King's Regulations 1940 Para 390 (xvi) 12/3/1946.
