Married Mary McIntyre Thorburn Shaw (1904 - 1992) in 1930 in Reading, Berkshire. In the 1939 General Register he is listed as a guest at the Old George Hotel, High Street, Salisbury alongside several members of the Imperial Committee on Chemical Defence (there may be no connection but it is possible that his work as a Staff Officer was relevant to this Committee - and the Hotel is near Porton Down). At the time he and his family were living at Farnham, Surrey.
