1 February 1943 Llantwit Major, S Wales.

The new Support Group role in process of organisation.

Arrangements made for a Memorial Service at Llantwit Major Church in memory of the late Major Wray.

3 February 1943

Memorial Service at Llantwit Major Church for the late Major Wray. General Curtis C.B., D.S.O., M.C. was also present. The service was very simply conducted by Rev A.A. Chapman C.F. whom Major Wray knew extremely well whilst serving in Iceland (C ).

5 February 1943

An ENSA Concert was held at The Miners’ Rest Camp, St Athans.

6 February 1943

The C.O., Adjutant Captain Lovibond visits the area where Headquarters Divisional Support Company will be moving to shortly.

7 February 1943

Company Commanders’ Conference held to discuss the proposed Support Groups and inter-Company transfers of personnel.

9 February 1943

The C.O., Adjutant and all Company Commanders were sent on a Skeleton Exercise “FANTOME” which lasted for 2 days.

14 February 1943

Company Commanders’ Conference to discuss Exercise “Filldyke” and also Exercise “Spartan”.

15 February 1943

C.O. and Adjutant left to commence “Filldyke”.

18 February 1943

C.O., Adjutant and Brigade Group Commanders return from Exercise “Filldyke”.

19 February 1943

F Company Sergeants’ Mess invited Officers of the Battalion to a dance held at Colhugh Villa. A very enjoyable evening was had by all.

21 February 1943

8 Bren Carriers and 2 Jeeps on loan to Battle School.

25 February 1943

2/Lt Hilsdon posted to GHQ A.A. School at Clacton-on-Sea.

27 February 1943

C.O. Adjutant and Orderly Room Staff leave for Exercise “Spartan”. Major R E N D’Abo took out a party to act as decoys.

Captain Thomas and Lieut Strawson as Officers i/c Divisional Headquarters at Whitney and Foxley during the Exercise.

Lieut Wilmot went as Adjutant and Quartermaster to 11th Corps Reinforcement Camp, Stevenage, for the duration of “Spartan”.
