1 June 1942 Narberth.

O.C. visited Hereford and Abergavenny.

Captain Poole and 2/Lt Mabey returned from Exercise “Knave”.

2 June 1942

O.C. visited Carmarthen, Section A, plus Commanders’ Conference at Company HQ.

3 June 1942

Normal Training.

4 June 1942

O.C. visited B & C plus Tenby.

Normal Training.

5 June 1942

O.C. received Warning Order to move to Hereford on 15 June 1942. Approximately 12:00 hours a ‘phone call received from 49th Division declaring this Company to move to Hereford forthwith. Advance Party to be at Hereford 16:00 hours. Captain Poole proceeded to Hereford on recce. 14:30 hours this move cancelled by ‘phone, reverting it back to 15 June 1942 original date.

8 June 1942

O.C. visited Carmarthen Section.

Captain Medrington and C Section Personnel participated in 2-day Exercise with 147 Brigade Llantwit Major area.

9 June 1942

O.C., Captain Poole, Lt Campbell and C.Q.M.S. went on recce of new location. O.C. met A.Q.M.G. 49 Division at 15:00 hours.

49 Division Liaison Officer visited HQ of this Company.

10 June 1942

O.C. visited Sections at Tenby. All Sections preparing for move. Additional Advance Party reached  ?

11 June 1942

B & C Sections moved to Narberth. Billets handed over. All vehicles except Rear Party loaded.

13 June 1942

Company moved to Bryngwyn arrived 15:00 hours.

14 June 1942

General organisation of Camp, unloading stores etc.

15 June 1942

2/Lt Mabey with “C” Platoon departed for Crickhowell to convoy 7th Battalion Duke of Wellingtons to new Camp.

2/Lt Horrocks returned from R.A.S.C. Officer Long Duties Course O.T.S. Bournemouth.

16 June 1942

C.O. visited 70 Brigade HQ regarding Exercise “Don”. “C” Platoon returned to location.

Water unsatisfactory throughout Camp. Water condemned by Medical Officer. Company’s water trailers put into use. Sterilisation by Company Water Duties Man.

2/Lt Campbell proceeded on leave.

17 June 1942

C.O. visited C.S.D. Hereford.

D.C.A. A/CRASC Supplies and Transport Western Command visited location.

Company Parade for presentation of Sports Cups by C.O. to football team, winners of Inter-Services League.

18 June 1942

Exercise “Don” commenced. Platoon participating departed.

Camp construction continuing.

T.M.T. Clerk posted to Company.

19 June 1942

Men of Company Pay.

Visit from NAAFI Supervisor regarding site for Camp Canteen.

Return of vehicles and personnel from Exercise “Don”.

Mr and Mrs Oakley, owners of Hall and estate BRYNGWYN, visited Officers’ Mess.

20 June 1942

Chaplain 49 Division and Padre visited Camp.

This Company attached to 70 Infantry Brigade for Troop Carrying.

21 June 1942

Voluntary outdoors Church service.

D.C.A. visited Camp and inspected Cookhouse and storing arrangements.

DAQMG called.

22 June 1942

C.O. visited Brigade HQ for conference on Exercises “Don” and “Crassus”.

Cricket match versus Kensingtons, won by Company 95 – 22 runs.

23 June 1942

Exercise “Crassus”. C.O> and Captain Poole departed location 04:00 hours with HQ personnel.

Visited by Padre.

2/Lt Horrocks proceeded on leave.

24 June 1942

C.O. and HQ returned from Exercise “Crassus” 06:00 hours. Men rested.

Organised recreational training.

D.D.S.T. advised this Company of transfer of coaches to Troop Carriers to take place in October.

25 June 1942

Camp construction continued.

Captain Medrington with “C” Platoon left to carry out Embussing Exercise with 11 DLI. Balance of Company saw a series of training films.

Driver Elliott T/135189 awarded Certificate for Gallantry or Good Service by C.in C. Home Forces.

26 June 1942

Captain Poole and “B” Platoon left 02:00 hours for night Embussing and Debussing Exercise with 10 DLI and returned 08:00 hours.

2/Lt Mabey left with “C” Platoon for Exercise with Tyneside Scottish – returned 13:00 hours.

Lt Campbell returned from leave.

27 June 1942

Major Bain 8 M.S.D. called with Lt Mortimer, who joins this Company from 8 M.S.D.

Organised recreational training.

28 June 1942

Water still condemned by Medical Officer, nothing definite seems to happen. Therefore, this Unit purchasing water from outside sources. C.O. trying to get authority to purchase.

29 June 1942

Major Holman called with Lt Innes.

C.O. recce’d route for Brigade Exercise.

Captain Poole proceeded on leave.
