|Home address=50, Charlton St. Gateshead, Son of William and Alice Thompson, husband of Isobel Marie Thompson.  Married Isabel Middlemiss 7/1937 at Houghton (to be confirmed).  Lived at 4, Loweswater Road, Low Fell, Gateshead.

|Died/Killed in action=Killed in Action 20/5/1940 at Ficheux.  No known grave.  Commemorated on Column 66, [[DUNKIRK MEMORIAL]].  Several of the Ficheux casualties were unable to be identified, which may be why he does not have a marked headstone.  It is possible that he is buried in one of the unidentified graves in Bucquoy Road Cemetery.  This is being further investigated.

The common nature of his name, and the frequent variations in spelling, made definitive identification of genealogical information more difficult - leading to the need for some confirmation of facts mentioned above.
