After War service in 1945 Lt Ker returned to work as a journalist but undertook theological training and was ordained as a Priest, serving in a variety of posts in the South-West, Scotland and London.

This was confirmed when a London Gazette entry was traced which corrected a former entry where his name had indeed been shown as Easmond and was thereby corrected to Desmond.
