The Commonwealth War Graves Commission have confirmed that, because Private Milburn was killed before the official declaration of War, even though he was on duty, armed and in uniform, his death is not included on their database an a War casualty. As far as is known, his grave does not have a CWGC headstone, though this is to be further investigated. His funeral took place on Saturday 2nd September 1939 at Medomsley Church. Newspaper reports of his Inquest and Funeral are set out below.
