The lack of mention of Private Peffers in War Diaries etc, and the fact that the War Office "missing" exercise in 1942/43 could find no trace of him made it difficult to be certain of his service career.  However, we have been fortunate to have been given access to family information, and to his Service record, thanks to his step-grandson, for which we are most grateful.
