3rd September 1943 HAMILTON.
Exercise “OWL I” took place – this was a daylight drill for a Battalion night advance.
7th September 1943
Exercise “OWL II” took place – a night advance with Artillery and Medium Machine Gun support, followed by a consolidation of the Battalion.
10th – 12th September 1943
The Small Arms School Hythe Travelling Wing visited the Battalion and held a short cadre for NCOs and gave several demonstrations.
13th September 1943
A visit to the Battalion was paid by representatives of the 33rd Army Tank Brigade. Lectures were given on Tank and Infantry co-operation to all Companies. Four Tanks were on show.
14th – 15th September 1943
Exercise “RESBUD” took place – this was to practise the Battalion in its role as part of a Reserve Brigade taking up a defensive position, followed by an advance through smoke.
16th – 17th September 1943
The Anti-Tank Platoon were Field Firing at BARRY.
20th September 1943
A and B Companies exercised co-operation with Tanks. “Casuals” fired their Bren Course on the Range.
21st September 1943
C and D Companies exercised co-operation with Tanks. “Casuals” fired their Bren Course on the Range.
24th – 26th September 1943
Exercise “CONTACT 70” took place – this was to practise the Battalion in taking up a defensive position after a Motor transport move.
