Discharged under King's Regulations 1940 Para 390 (xvii) on being commissioned in the Durham Light Infantry - Emergency Commission as 2nd Lieutenant 23/4/1943 - new Army number 271278. Posted from OCTU to 14th Battalion DLI 23/4/1943. Posted to the Hampshire Regiment - 11 Platoon. Served in Italy. Wounded. Evacuated to 76 British General Hospital, Central Mediterranean Forces, (Algiers 3/43 to 5/43 and then to Zeriser; Zeriser 5/43 to 5/43 then to Medfez-el-Sab; Birine 6/43 to 16/6/43 then to Guelma; Guelma 7/43 to 11/43 then to Bizerta; Bizerta 11/43 to 11/43 then to Taranto; Taranto 11/43 to 12/43 then to Trani; Trani 12/43 to 7/45+. Released from service January 1946.
