1st Battalion Tyneside Scottish
War Diary July 1943


2nd July 1943 VELINDRE.


Lt Col Cassels assumed command of the Battalion.
7th July 1943
The Intelligence Section and the Reserves returned from the Course at the battle School, PRESTEIGN.
9th July 1943
All the Officers attended a lecture on the Middle East by Major General McCreary, 8th Army.
10th July 1943
Officers and men from each Company attended a Smoke Demonstration at SENNYBRIDGE Ranges.
13th July 1943
General Sir Arthur Wauchope G.C.B., G.C., M.C., C.I.E., D.S.O., Colonel of the Black Watch, paid a visit to the Battalion.
14th July 1943
General Wauchope visited all Companies at their training.
19th July 1943
A Battalion Signal Exercise was held.
20th July 1943
The Advance Party left for HAMILTON Racecourse.
26th July 1943
The Motor transport Party left for HAMILTON.
27th July 1943
Major N.D. Stevenson assumed command of the Battalion during the absence on leave of the CO.
The Baggage Train left for HAMILTON.
28th July 1943
The Main Body of the Battalion left by rail for HAMILTON.
29th July 1943 HAMILTON.
The Transport and Main Parties arrived at the new location.
