The DLI Roll of Honour shows Pte Allison as a member of 1st Battalion, DLI. This should read 10th Battalion. A copy of his Service Record would clarify his initial postings as, given his Regimental Number, it is thought unlikely that he served in 10th Battalion in Northern France. Family help would be most appreciated. No details of the shooting accident are contained in the Battalion War Diary.

CWGC records show him as born in Yorkshire - it is believed that this is because, although a birth was registered in Teesdale, his parents lived in Startforth which is on the Yorkshire side of the Tees about a mile from Barnard Castle.
