DLI Roll of Honour shows his date of death as 11/5/1940 - this appears to be an error. War Office casualty list shows only 5/40 without a day. CWGC date of 20th May is likely to be more accurate.

The War Office "missing" exercise circulated to PoW Camps did not produce any information and his fate was unknown for many months. Hopefully the work to be done on Bucquoy Road Cemetery may show up some explanation and possibly details of his initial interment.
