Unit Enlisted in The Durham Light Infantry 9/1/1929 as a Regular soldier for seven years with the Colours and five years on the Reserve. As a Reservist at the time War was declared he was presumably called back to the colours, though it is not known in which Battalions he served - other than his membership details of the DLI Association indicating that he served with the 12th Battalion. He is not listed as having transferred to the Black Watch with the rest of the men from 12th Battalion. Relegated to the Class Z Reserve 31/1/1946. Demobilised.
