1st to 4th December 1939

Training carried on throughout the Battalion.

5th December 1939

“C” Company transferred from Stanley to Lambton Park Stables, Fencehouses.

15th December 1939

At 13:00 hours “A” Company, plus HQ Company reinforcements, were relieved from their duties at the three Newcastle/Gateshead Bridges Vulnerable Points by the 13th (Home Defence) Battalion The Durham Light Infantry, and relieved of the Port Security duties by 9th Battalion The Royal Northumberland Fusiliers.

20th December 1939

“C” Company relieved a Company of 12th Battalion The Durham Light Infantry at Chester Road Schools, Sunderland.

“A” Company transferred from Birtley to Lambton Park Stables.

23rd December 1939

Major F. Taylor (Captain, R.A.R.O.) reported for duty from the 8th Battalion The Durham Light Infantry.
