Preparation for Exercise Bridgehead.

2 October 1943

12:25 hours. Move off for Bridgehead to Concentration Area.

3 October 1943

Division of Unit into Craft loads.

4 October 1943

08:45 hours. Exercise begins. Unit assembles after landing; move by march route and Motor Transport towards final objective. Advanced Dressing Station established 18:00 hours.

5 October 1943

10:00 hours. Exercise ends. Several valuable lessons brought out regarding loads, fatigue, organisation of the Unit for assault.

8 October 1943

16:00 hours. Exercise Remedy begins. Valuable lessons learnt in the method of collecting casualties on an approach march.

10 October 1943

14:00 hours. Exercise Remedy ends.

13 October 1943

Advance Party to C.T.C. Toward.

16 October 1943 – Castle Toward.

06:00 hours. Main Body to Toward. Training commences.

17 – 18 October 1943 - Castle Toward

Exercise to practice method of employment of Sections in assault landing. HQ Company experiments with loads.

19 October 1943 - Castle Toward

These exercises all dryshod.

20 – 24 October 1943 - Castle Toward

Wetshod exercises A and B and HQ Companies. Trial of method evolved for clearing of beaches, contact with Regimental Aid Post, reconnaissance of Advanced Dressing Station site, ? up of vehicles and vehicle parties.

25 October 1943 - Castle Toward

Advanced Dressing Station Exercise postponed on account of weather.

27 October 1943 - Castle Toward

Visit of Colonel Walker, new ADMS, 49th Division.

28 October 1943 - Castle Toward

Advanced Dressing Station Exercise (Reserve Brigade).

29 October 1943 - Castle Toward
