1st September 1942 – KINGTON.

11:00 hours – CO makes reconnaissance of projected winter quarters.

2nd September 1942 – KINGTON.

Routine.

3rd September 1942 – KINGTON.

National Day of Prayer. Brigade Service - Kington Parish Church. March Past and Review by G.o.C. 49th Division.

War Office posting received for Major Brown – appointment as DADMS 78th Division.

4th – 5th September 1942 – KINGTON.

Routine.

6th September 1942 – KINGTON.

Conference – ADMS office on Exercise Wetshod.

7th – 9th September 1942 – KINGTON.

05:30 hours – Unit leaves on Exercise Wetshod, arrives concentration area at 13:30 hours. Remains in concentration area until Wednesday at 17:42 hours, when it crosses the Start Line at Red Roses, representing High Water Mark.

The Exercise was a practice in Combined Operations technique but no actual landing was made by the force of which the Unit was a part. Unit remains lying up near Laugharne.

10th September 1942

22:00 hours – Unit moves to a farm on East bank of River Towy, opens Advanced Dressing Station. HQ and one Company remains on wheels.

11th September 1942

21:30 hours – HQ moves to region of ? opens Main Dressing Station. Advanced Dressing Station closes, two Companies remain on wheels.

12th September 1942

01:00 hours – Main Dressing Station closes, moves to a new site. Two Companies remain mobile.

13th September 1942

11:00 hours – Close down. CO attends Conferences in Swansea – at 12:00 hours Conference held by DDMS Western Command, at 14:00 hours Conference held by G.o.C. Western Command.

14th September 1942

03:30 hours – Unit returns to Camp.

15th September 1942 – KINGTON.

17:00 hours – Conference ADMS office re. move to winter quarters.

16th September 1942 – KINGTON.

T/Major T.O. McKane leaves the Unit, being posted to 128 Field Ambulance as Company Commander.

Lt O.M. Tattersall takes duty as QM. Major O’Kane takes up duty as Company Commander.

17th September 1942 – KINGTON.

RASC Personnel and vehicles take part in a Brigade road move to test out the effect of changed road densities.

18th – 19th September 1942 – KINGTON.

Routine.

20th September 1942 – KINGTON.

Lt Slater with a Light Section from A Company joins the Brigade Group for a Field Firing Exercise today.

21st September 1942 – KINGTON.

Exercise “Monte Carlo II”. Exercise is designed to test out varying densities and speeds on MT movement by road. It begins today with REME inspection of vehicles.

22nd September 1942 – KINGTON.

Road Test in Monte Carlo II postponed owing to bad weather , which prevents aerial photography of the convoy.

Lt Greenhill RASC left yesterday for 1st Division on posting.

23rd September 1942 – KINGTON.

11:30 hours – Monte Carlo II takes place.

24th September 1942 – KINGTON.

09:00 hours – Conference on Monte Carlo II at Divisional HQ. Agreed that more than 40 vehicles to the mile not advisable and that tactical groups preferable to even spacing. Need for more practice of drivers and better march discipline.

25th-26th September 1942 – KINGTON.

Routine.

27th September 1942 – KINGTON.

Conference at Divisional HQ re Training.

28th – 29th September 1942 – KINGTON.

Routine.

30th September 1942 – KINGTON.

Routine. Captain Needham posted to No 11 Depot.
