1 December 1942 – St Donats, Llantwit Major, Glamorgan.

Lieut K W Attrill posted from E Company to 24th M.G.T.C. on attachment to U.S.A.F. Iceland (C ).

8 December 1942

Amendment No. 1 of the new War Establishments was issued today. It allows for an increase in the L/Sgts and L/Cpls in Division and Brigade Support Companies.


15 December 1942

A Draft of two Officers and 31 Other Ranks embarked today for service overseas.

Lieut L F Sayers and Lieut L Wilkes posted from the Battalion and proceeding on a draft for service overseas.

18 December 1942

The film “Next of Kin” was shown to all ranks in the Battalion.

2nd Lieut W J Hidsdon posted to F Company from OCTU.

2nd Lieut M C Milner posted to G Company from OCTU.

19 December 1942

Lieut T B Walsh posted as an Instructor to 163 OCTU.

Lieut T B Walsh relinquishes the appointments of Battalion Education and Messing Officer.

Lieut O P Helder assumes the appointments of Battalion Education and Messing Officer.

20 December 1942

During the last seven days approximately 50 vehicles and motor cycles have been transferred to this Unit, making up the full War Establishment in transport.

25 December 1942

Christmas Day. The Commanding Officer visited all Christmas Dinners.

26 December 1942

Boxing Day. A holiday was granted.

28 December 1942

Lieut I A Strawson posted to 24th M.G.T.C. on being detained in hospital for over 28 days.

29 December 1942

Lieut Aston posted to duty with F Company from 11 Corps HQ.

31 December 1942

A steady stream of new equipment has been flowing into the Battalion during the last month i.e. 3” mortars, sights, Radial Mountings etc.

During December a number of Officers and NCO’s have attended Courses of Instruction at the Small Arms Schools at Netheravon and Hythe, in the 4.2” mortar and the use of the Cartwheel Sight.
