1 February 1940 – Eaglescliffe

Unit trained with 186 Field Ambulance in morning and carried out individual training in afternoon – meteorological notings snowy.

2 February 1940

Unit carried out training with Field Ambulance in morning and individual training in afternoon.

3 February 1940

Half-day – fatigues in billets.

4 February 1940

Voluntary Church Parade.

5 – 7 February 1940

Training with 186 Field Ambulance in morning, and individual training in afternoon.

8 February 1940

Captain Neill 48 hours leave to collect car for use on regimental duties.

9 February 1940

Fatigues and half-day.

10 February 1940

Voluntary Church Parade.

11 – 12 February 1940

Training with 186 Field Ambulance in morning and individual training in afternoon.

12 February 1940

Pte Lindsey J F 7365468 appointed Acting Lance Corporal, unpaid. (First NCO to be appointed).

13 – 14 February 1940

Training as previously.

15 February 1940

7259778 Pte Donaldson T and 7262578 Pte Lewis E G reported to unit in lieu of Staff Sergeants and were promoted Corporals - from Depot RAMC. Pte Keute?? J reported from Army School of Hygiene in lieu of a Sergeant and was appointed Lance Corporal. The unit was now one Other Rank short of War Establishment.

16 February 1940

Training as usual.

17 February 1940

Fatigues – Officer Commanding to Darlington, to 23rd Division Medical HQ re. tradesmen.

18 February 1940

Unit Church Parade to West Street Methodist Chapel, Yarm.

19 February 1940

First inspection of unit by ADMS 23rd Division – unit paraded in rear of 186 Field Ambulance. Billets inspected and favourably commented on.

20 February 1940

Training as usual.

21 February 1940

Training as usual – Route march 8 miles pm.

22 February 1940

Training as usual. Cpl Lewis E G attached to Divisional HQ for instruction in Office Duties.

23 February 1940

First “Field Day” with 186 Field Ambulance. 1 NCO and 4 Privates attached to Field Ambulance to carry out sanitary arrangements at mid-day stop. Remainder of unit stopped normal training to investigate stoppage of drains at Field Ambulance billets. Drainage system was traced by means of plan and work commenced to expose inspection chambers and traps.

24 February 1940

Drainage investigation continued as training in field work – half day.

25 February 1940

Sunday – approximately 1/3 personnel on weekend leave.

26 February 1940

Pte Appleby W (7362127) attached to Emergency Cookery Centre, Ripon.

27 February 1940

Drainage investigation continued – Field Work training. Field Work – training as usual.

28 February 1940

Very rainy day – indoor training: NCOs interviewed re discipline. 29 February 1940

Weather fair – training as per programme.
