30 January – 15 February 1941

At sea.

16 February 1941

H.M.T. J4 arrived at SUEZ.

18 February 1941 – Suez.

14:00 hours. Unit disembarked leaving A/QMS Donaldson and 5 Other Ranks as “Baggage Party” to disembark G1098 equipment.

18:30 hours. Unit entrained.

22:30 hours. Unit arrived at RAMC Base Depot HELMIEH. Unit HQ’s set up there.

19 February 1941

Officer Commanding visited DDHME at Cairo. Instructions were given by him for drawing of Unit transport from 10 Vehicle Replacement Depot, RASC, ABBASSIA.

20 February 1941

Unit vehicles drawn less disinfestor – one 2-seater car, two 15cwt vans, one 30cwt lorry and six motor cycles.

21 February 1941

A/QMS Donaldson and baggage party reported at Unit HQ that baggage was entrained in sealed trucks.

22 February 1941

Driving and motor cycle instructions for drivers.

23 February 1941

Disinfestor and lorry drawn from No. 10 Vehicle Replacement Depot.

24 February 1941

G1098 equipment unloaded and surplus returned to Ordnance Depot (No. 2 Sub. Depot ABBASSIA).

25 February 1941

Unit reported complete to DDH Middle East.

18:00 hours. Major G A W Neill to see ADMS. Orders received that this Officer would relinquish command of Unit to take up duties as Deputy Assistant Director of Health, No. 81 Base Sub. Area.

26 February 1941

Lt. M G Pearson posted to command Unit and to take over on 27 February.

27 February 1941

16:00 hours. Lt M G Pearson assumed command of Unit and took over equipment, Regimental Funds etc.

28 February 1941

11:00 hours. Movement Orders were received. Awaiting signal for details.

Appendix attached to February 1941 War Diary for 33rd Field Hygiene Section.

The only document attached was the nominal roll of Officers on strength, which only showed Acting Major G A W Neill with the Unit, and having been in post since 31 January 1940.
