The War Office "Missing" Exercise of 1942 identified Private Dunnigan as having been taken Prisoner of War on 20/5/1940, along with many others from 1st Tyneside Scottish. However, this contradicts the information drawn from the DLI Army Enlistment Book which, as indicated above, shows him transferring to the Sherwood Foresters from the Home Defence Battalion. This anomaly requires further investigation which may only be resolved via his Service Record.
