Died/Killed in action DIED from Cerebral Malaria and Cardiac Failure 24/2/1944. Buried initially by Lt Col H S Flower, Battalion Commander. Commemorated on Column 47 of the Singapore Memorial (presumably his remains were not able to be recovered from the initial burial). Probate was granted on 12/4/1946 at Newcastle upon Tyne to Elizabeth J Hine, his widow.
Home address Father - Joseph Metcalfe Hine, mother Sarah Jobling McDougal. At the time of the 1939 Register, Gordon was a single man, living in Acklington and working as a Lorry Driver in the building industry. He married Elizabeth J Hume in Northumberland on 5/10/1940. Gordon's wife lived at 24, Newborough Street, Amble, Northumberland.
