The date of Pte Jewitt's death was more likely to have been 20/5/1940, unless he died of wounds the following day. The DLI Roll of Honour shows the date as 10/5/1940, which seems to be an error as the Battalion was not engaged in fighting that day. The War Office casualty list only shows 5/40 with no day.
