Died/Killed in action DIED 2/9/1943 - cause of death as yet unknown. Interred Grave 117, Tanbizaya. Re-interred January 1946 in Grave B1.F.7. Thanbyuzayat War Cemetery. Headstone inscription reads:- "GOD GENTLY CLOSED YOUR WEARY EYES AND TOOK YOU IN HIS CARE - R.I.P.". Probate granted 17/5/1946 at Newcastle upon Tyne to Mary Lally, widow.
Home address Son of John and B A Sweeney of Newcastle upon Tyne. At the time of the 1939 General Register Thomas lived with his wife at West Farm Bedlingtonshire and worked as a tractor driver (again, this requires confirmation as the research threw up many men with the same name of similar age). Mrs Sweeney lived at 2, Westbury Avenue, Daisy Hill, Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
