1st January 1942
The Battalion sailed for England on board the S.S. ORBITA.
Lt J.K. Steele stayed behind as Rear Party.
4th January 1942
The Battalion arrived at GREENOCK, Scotland.
5th January 1942
The Battalion disembarked and entrained at mid-day.
6th January 1942
The Battalion arrived at CARMARTHEN at about 02:00 hours and proceeded to YSTRAD Camp.
7th January 1942
The day was spent settling in to the new quarters.
8th January 1942
The whole Battalion arrived on the Tuesday and then proceeded on 14 days leave.
9th January 1942
The new C.O. – Lt. Col. Davis - arrived from 70th Royal Ulster Rifles to take over command of the Battalion.
22nd January 1942
The Battalion arrived back from disembarkation leave.
23rd January 1942
Several men had missed the time for reporting for duty after their leave due to the disruption to train services caused by the bad weather.
The new Commanding Officer had his first meeting with the Battalion’s Officers and his first conference.
24th January 1942
The first Company soccer matches in England were held. C Company played A Company with the result being a 2 – 2 draw.
B Company played Trinity College and won 6 goals to 1.
25th January 1942
The C.O. held a conference.
26th January 1942
The C.O. visited FISHGUARD to see about the impending move of location as the new Camp was being built.
27th January 1942
The C.O. visited PONTYPOOL.
29th January 1942
The whole Battalion, less the unfit and overage, proceeded to LLANION Barracks, Pembroke Dock for a fortnight and took over the Barracks for those two weeks from 11th DLI.
31st January 1942
There was an R.S.M.’s parade for the whole Battalion, less the Duty Company. The day was spent in Company administration.
