1st June 1943 LLANELLY
Brigade Signals Exercise “EYEOPENER” took place,
Battalion Cross Country Run took place – the winners were B Company.
Lieut D.F. Stephenson took over the post of Adjutant and Captain P.A. Johnson became Company Commander of HQ Company.
3rd June 1943
The Battalion inter-Company Guard Mounting competition took place and was won by A Company.
The Pioneer Platoon gave a demonstration of the reconnaissance of obstacles at night.
4th June 1943
The Officers’ TEWT was on the subject of “Occupation of a Company Defensive Locality”.
6th June 1943
A Company set out on the CO’s three-day Company Group Test.
8th June 1943
A lecture was given to the Officers by the Quartermaster on “The taking over of stores and accommodation”.
9th June 1943
Loading trials were held for the new transport.
The heats of the Battalion Sports were held.
10th June 1943
The Battalion Sports were held at the LLANELLY Cricket Field – S Company were the overall winners.
11th June 1943
The CO made an Administrative Inspection of A Company.
12th June 1943
Free Day. A Dance was held in the Officers’ Mess.
13th June 1943
C Company Guard represented the Battalion at Divisional HQ.
B Company began the CO’s three-day Company Group Test.
Church Parades were held.
Major Ledger reported on attachment to the Battalion.
14th June 1943
HQ Company were on the Range.
S Company carried out the CO’s Carrier Test.
The Adjutant’s lecture to the Officers was on “The administration of discipline”.
Mr Jones of CARMARTHEN lectured HQ Company on “Post-War Reconstruction”.
15th June 1943
C Company left the Camp on a two-day Practice Scheme.
16th June 1943
The Carrier Platoon and the drivers of the Mortar Platoon left for a Brigade Carrier Concentration at LLANDOVERY.
17th June 1943
The Anti-Tank Platoon carried out a shoot at HARLECH.
Five Officers and 15 NCO’s of the Sergeants’ Cadre witnessed Field Firing by 191 Battery of 185th Field Regiment, Royal Artillery.
18th June 1943
Six Officers attended a Divisional lecture at SENNYBRIDGE.
A Sergeants’ Mess Dance took place.
20th June 1943
C Company and Battalion HQ began the Company Group Test.
The remainder of the Battalion continued with individual training.
21st June 1943
B Company carried out a route march and “Preparation for Battle”.
22nd June 1943
Mr Jones lectured on “Industrial Re-organisation”.
An Officers’ Cloth Model was held on “Withdrawal”.
At night, a joint discussion took place with 185 Field Regiment on the 3” Mortar and the 25pdr Gun-Howitzer.
23rd June 1943
Battalion individual training continued.
The heats took place for the Brigade Sports.
24th June 1943
The Brigade Sports were held at CARMARTHEN. 11th DLI were winners of the Kington Trophy.
25th June 1943
2/Lt G. Waite reported for duty, having been attached from the King’s Own Regiment, and was posted to A Company.
A Dance was held in aid of the DLI Prisoners of War Fund.
26th June 1943
The CO made an inspection of B Company.
28th June 1943
B Company began a three-day Cadre.
S and C Companies settled in their new billets after moving into LLANELLY from PEMBREY.
A Stretcher-Bearer Course began at 187 Field Ambulance.
30th June 1943
The Intelligence Section attended the Intelligence Course at the Divisional Battle School.
C Company left Camp for a 12-day exercise.
