1 May 1943 St Donats, Llantwit Major, Glamorgan.

The second day of Exercise Shylock – the move by road of the Battalion from Scotland back to South Wales. The Battalion bivouaced the night in the Staging Camp at Preston.

2 May 1943

Third day of the move – the Battalion bivouaced the night at Wellington.

3 May 1943

The Main Body completed the move and is once again in Llantwit Major.

4 May 1943

The Commanding Officer held a Company Commanders’ Conference today – the following cadres are to re-commence; Driver Operators, Driver Mechanics, Officers' 4.2” mortar cadre.

All Companies were instructed to contact local rifle ranges.

7 May 1943

The Commanding Officer inspected all billets occupied by F, G and H Companies.

8 May 1943

The Commanding Officer inspected the billets of E Company.

11 May 1943

The new Field Firing Range at Ystradfellte was reconnoitred today. It is intended that all Companies should proceed for concentrations of three or four days at a time.

14 May 1943

Major R E N D’Abo is appointed Second-in-Command of the Battalion.

Major A L Lovibond assumes command of H Company vice Major R E N D’Abo.

Lieut G O Aston assumes command of G Company vice Major A L Lovibond.

15 May 1943

Albuhera Day. The Commanding Officer granted a day off and remitted all C.B. (confined to barracks).

19 May 1943

Major R E N D’Abo appointed Unit Security Officer.

22 May 1943

A detachment under the command of Major G D Paterson took part in a local “Wings for Victory” Parade.

23 May 1943

Driver Mechanics Cadre No. 2 assembled today.

25 May 1943

The Commanding Officer held an Administrative Inspection of H Company today.

Commencing today two telephoneless days a week will be instituted in the Battalion to give more practice in wireless procedure.

27 May 1943

The Commanding Officer held an Administrative Inspection of F Company.

31 May 1943

E, F and H Companies are now re-designated to be E, F and H Brigade Support Groups.
