1 – 16 August 1940

Unit at Werrington Park Camp carrying out instructive sanitary duties for 20 Lines of Communication Training Centre, Royal Engineers. No unusual occurrences.

17 August 1940

Officer Commanding to LONDON to attend Course in Tropical Medicine at London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Command of Unit handed over to Officer Commanding 719 General Construction Company, Royal Engineers.

21 August 1940

Officer Commanding ordered to report to Department of Health AMD 5 War Office. On doing so he was informed that Unit was to mobilise in preparation for overseas service and that he was to return as soon as possible.

22 August 1940

Officer Commanding again at War Office for further instructions.

23 August 1940

Officer Commanding returned to Unit.

24 August 1940

Officer Commanding to Plymouth to DAAQMG South Western Area re. mobilisation.

Mobilisation to be completed by 10th September.

26 August 1940

Transport for Unit provided – 1 15cwt hired van. Embarkation leave for Other Ranks commenced. 5 days granted to 50% of Unit.

26 – 27 August 1940

Various indents for clothing and equipment put in motion.

28 August 1940

Anti-Gas equipment received and assembled, respirators issued.

30 August 1940

Officer Commanding on four days’ embarkation leave. Command of Unit taken over again by O.C. 719 General Construction Company, Royal Engineers.

31 August 1940

Visit of DADOS South Western Area who informed Unit that G1098 equipment would be sent direct to port of embarkation.
