33rd Field Hygiene Section War Diary - November 1940

25 October – 10 November 1940

Unit situated as above (Oswestry Rest Camp). Training carried out and courses run for water duties and sanitation for adjacent units.

During this period orders were received to be prepared to move on 12 November 1940 by H.M.T. L15 to destination “Y”. These were subsequently countermanded.

11 November 1940

Orders were received to proceed on 14 November 1940 to Liverpool Transit Camp, HUYTON and Officer Commanding was to visit HUYTON on that date to make arrangements. This was done and contact was made with Mersey Garrison and No. 5 Auxiliary Military Pioneer Corps Training Centre, accommodation in three small houses being obtained.

14 November 1940

13:00 hours. Unit moved from OSWESTRY to HUYTON by road in two 3-ton lorries, arriving at 16:00 hours.

15 November 1940

Unit at HUYTON carrying out several sanitary duties at the camp.

16 November 1940

75225 Pte Braithwaite T admitted to hospital and struck off strength of the Unit.

27 November 1940

G1098 equipment from H.M.T. K4 received at HUYTON Ex GLASGOW. Some of this had received damage from bomb concussion. It was checked and report sent to C.O.O. Bulford who replaced damaged and missing articles.

30 November 1940

7345010 Pte Wise F J taken on strength of Unit as reinforcement.
