Borganes
As will be seen from reading the War Diary, Borganes was quite a significant location for the Brigade's troops.
During our visit in 2010, we discovered straight away that the local Library was situated on part of what had been one of the 1940 Camps and that the views from the Library were very much what would have been visible to the men stationed here.
In addition we were more than fortunate to meet Gudrun and Johanna - Library staff who were enthusiastic in wanting to help our research. As a result, we gained some images from the relevant period. In return we helped with identifying some of the wartime photographs included within an exhibition which had been mounted in the Library, illustrating local life over the previous 100 years. All in all, an excellent visit and an opportunity to meet and talk to knowledgeable people fascinated by their local history. Some of the photographs below were taken by Stefan Helgi Valsson.
