Some information on this Page has been extracted from the Commemorative Booklet, prepared by Major Langley, covering the period from D-Day to VE Day in addition to that extracted from the War Diaries. There are issues around the possible duplication of names which remain to be clarified. In respect of this entry, Collins' name appears in both the lists of Lance Corporals and Corporals - suggesting a promotion and a duplication in the Book.. It has therefore been assumed it is the same soldier. It is not impossible, however, that while both entries in the Book show the same initials, these could be brothers of differing ranks - until the Regimental Numbers and forenames are obtained this must remain as a query.
