On the research visit during which the photographs were taken there was no apparent acknowledgment, by way of signs or posters for example, that the Training Area and Ranges had ever existed. Perhaps we just missed them but it is a great pity that the contribution this area made to the preparations for the invasion of Europe should have been "airbrushed" from history.

Those interested in Dunwich local history might usefully pursue this question and see that appropriate recognition is given to the importance of the role played at the time.
